Erosion is the movement of material from one place to
another. The main drivers of erosion from the ocean
are wind, waves and currents. Wind and water are
powerful and can grab and transport materials far
distances. Erosion is a natural process. But it
becomes negative when it impacts human economies.
Although erosion is a natural process, it can be drastically effected by poor land management by humans. land use such as deforestation, mining, agriculture and urbanization can destabilize soils and make them increasingly susceptible to
Erosion is happening all around us constantly and the land is always changing. major cases of erosion usually occur around periods of extreme weather such as strong winds and rain. A clear example of erosion is seen when we have heavy rain at long bay and the stream flows faster than normal. with more movement of water comes more movement of material, which will be deposited elsewhere on the beach, eventually making its way back up the beach with wave action.
