I understand that the ocean is connected to all of the earth's water reservoirs
The water cycle plays an essential role in the connection of the ocean to all Water reservoirs around the world. water turns from a liquid to a gas through Evaporation, water vapour then cools and Condenses in clouds.
Heavier water molecules fall from clouds through Precipitation. Depending on where the rain falls it will either gather in a freshwater reservoir such as a lake, infiltrate into the ground or fall back into the ocean.
Water that infiltrates will eventually make its way back to the ocean, either through plants starting the cycle again or by flowing through groundwater back to the ocean.
The cycle includes other steps, such as transpiration, sublimation, runoff and deposition.
The water cycle is constantly happening everywhere whether we can visibly see it or not!
